Manchester City takes EPL title battle to Spurs

Manchester City takes EPL title battle to Spurs

As usual, City controlled the possession of the game as they claim 71% of the possession as early as the sixth minute - just like they had done in their defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool barely a week ago.

It inflicted Spurs' first league defeat since losing 4-1 at City on 16 December, ending an unbeaten run of 14 matches.

City raced out of the traps and were nearly ahead after four minutes, Sterling driving down the right to pick out Leroy Sane, who crashed a first-time volley off the post with Hugo Lloris beaten.

"These guys are fantastic and awesome", Guardiola said.

Pep Guardiola's team could win the league before playing again if United lose to West Brom, but when they do lift the title at the end of the season, just how many records will they hold? "We did not do that in the first 25 minutes".

Manchester United (-475) had some starters nicked-up during the recent worldwide break, but it has won its last four home matchups, while Swansea City (+1300, draw +500) has generated little offense on the road all season.

Ilkay Gundogan slotted home a penalty three minutes later after Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris raced out of his goal and upended Raheem Sterling though television replays suggested his wild tackle was just outside the area.

Bad decision-making plagued Spurs throughout the night, especially in the final third as they failed to carve out many clearcut chances, let alone test Ederson in the City goal. Similarly, the second goal resulted from a swift counter-attack that eventually saw Hugo Lloris come way off his line and foul Sterling to concede a penalty (although contact happened outside the box), which was dispatched easily by Gundogan.

Delhi Daredevils register thrilling win over Mumbai Indians
Yet another game went down to the last over and yet again, Mumbai Indians (MI) were at the receiving end of the pulsating action. After being put in to bat, Mumbai got off to a dream start with each of their top 3 batsman scoring big and scoring quickly.

Two defeats to Liverpool in the Champions League with a derby defeat sandwiched in the middle have many people believing City's incredible season could be tarnished.

"Mo knows what this means and the way we play suits him", added Klopp.

"But today was a hard game".

Chelsea are fifth and Southampton are third-bottom.

Saints led 2-0 with 20 minutes remaining through Dusan Tadic and debutant Jan Bednarek.

Four days on from reaching the Champions League last four for the first time in a decade, Liverpool moved ever closer to sealing their place back in the competition next season with a top-four finish thanks to a routine 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Both sides continued to put up impressive play to ensure the game swing in their favour, but it was City who got lucky. Crystal Palace is even money at plus-1 goals, which conjures up a scenario where they nearly manage to cadge a 0-0 or 1-1 tie.

After opening the campaign with three successive wins, City made a serious statement with this thrashing of a leading side.
