Mother Charged After Toddler Tested Positive For Marijuana, Methamphetamine

On Thursday, authorities made the decision to arrest her and charge her. Those same witnesses told police they heard that Ecker, an alleged meth user, also gave her child meth to smoke from a pipe. Wakulla County Sheriff's Office in their report wrote, "People "joked" about the child's ability to roll joints (for Ecker)".

Kaitlyn Ecker, 20, was arrested April 12, 2018 on charges of child abuse, lewd and lascivious battery and transmission of harmful material to a minor.

Detectives were told that Ecker allowed the child to smoke methamphetamine with a pipe and that she used the drug herself.

With the assistance of Wakulla County Emergency Medical Service personnel, detectives collected a blood sample and hair sample from Ecker and the two-year old child. The two glass pipes tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the cops.

When detectives executed a search warrant at Ecker's address, they say they found multiple items in her bedroom consistent with marijuana and meth use, including a plastic bag containing marijuana residue located in a basket containing children's toys. However, the toxicology report ordered by the court revealed that the 2-year-old toddler tested positive for both meth and marijuana.

Investigators arrested Autumn Sienna Heinz, 30, Tuesday on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a child, drug possession and criminal mischief, reported The Missoulian. The tests concluded it likely wasn't a one-time event, either. Ecker allegedly claimed that she smoked weed recently, but that she hadn't smoked meth in months.

Readings also indicated the child was exposed to the drugs a lot of times or at least on more than one occasion. She denied ever smoking or ingesting drugs in the presence of the child and denied any knowledge of the child being exposed to drugs. She further denied giving her child any meth or marijuana. As of now, it's not clear if Kaitlyn Ecker has an attorney or if she still has custody of the two-year-old.

At the moment, the authorities have refused to disclose any details pertaining to Ecker's motive or what will happen to her child.

Autumn Heinz, 30, was a daycare worker for three years at a YMCA in Missoula, Montana before she was arrested.
