Roma mock Harry Kane

Roma mock Harry Kane

But Salah could finish this season on another high, with the Reds facing his former club Roma in the Champions League semi-final in seven days' time.

Spurs needed somebody to step up and make something happen.

And while you'd think Roma would have been too busy celebrating their sensational victory over Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals to be paying attention to the Kane controversy, you would be wrong.

"We are very happy, we wanted to win the league but it has been a hard season, there has been a lot of improvements in other teams".

The England striker was adamant he had to get the credit for the strike and managed to get the Premier League's goal accreditation appeals panel to award it in his favour. "I don't care about the rest".

Salah's goal comes at the end of a week that has featured plenty of discussion about the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, after Harry Kane was awarded an extra goal for the faintest of faint touches on Christian Eriksen's cross against Stoke last week. I respect the people that disagree with Harry, who do not agree with Harry, with the people who were surprised about him claiming it was his goal or not.

Even in a losing effort, James was spectacular as always, recording a triple-double with 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. There's no question that James is playing with his worst supporting cast since he completed his first stint with Cleveland.

Tottenham fans took to Twitter to criticise Harry Kane for his performance, or lack thereof, against Manchester City on Saturday.

"But you know, you can see (on Saturday) with the team everyone tries to pass the ball to me to help me. He's a big player for us, so hopefully he can keep scoring".

"Yeah, he told me he's going to claim all of them", Henderson said in an interview with BT Sport.

Kane now trails Salah by five goals with five league games left to play, and will hope to decrease the deficit against Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday (AEST).

And he also says Kane never thought he would be open to such ridicule when trying to get the goal.

"But playing with him every day in training I can see how hard he works, he wants goals, he's a striker, every striker wants goals, so he has just got to ignore it and focus on himself which I am sure he will do".
