United suffer shock loss to West Brom, hand title to City

Juan Mata has told MUTV that Manchester United still have lots to play for this season, despite the inevitability of City's Premier League title win being confirmed in the most disappointing of circumstances.

Jay Rodriguez netted a vital victor for the Baggies at Old Trafford, a result which confirmed City as Premier League champions.

"City were the best team, sooner or later they would get the points, so no dramas when the best team wins the league".

Even West Brom's official Twitter account poked fun at United with a comical tweet to the Blues.

This result will not have any significant effect on the league table beyond placing the title in City's hands.

The Spaniard also said that Saturday's defeat was a big disappointment after the second-half display at Manchester City.

This was the fifth season in which the Premier League title was decided at Old Trafford - more than any other ground in the competition.

Putin also said Russian military experts did not find any traces of chlorine gas or other poisonous substances in Douma. French President Emmanuel Macron was expected to strike a similar tone in a televised interview later Sunday.

That defeat came in between two losses to Liverpool as they were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

Guardiola failed to win a trophy during his first season in English football but has now added the Premier League to the EFL Cup crown collected against Arsenal in February. What a great feeling! "So happy to be able to share another trophy with our incredible fans!" tweeted City's captain Vincent Kompany. "We were a complicated team and let them feel comfortable".

United manager Jose Mourinho had long given up hopes of winning the title, instead focusing on finishing second.

There are five matchdays left for the 2017-18 Premier League season to be over, and City have dominated the title race, scoring a total of 93 goals and losing only twice so far. I wouldn't be happy if someone says that I won the title because somebody loses a match.

City manager Pep Guardiola had claimed he would be on the golf course on Sunday afternoon and would not watch the game.

"We didn't want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn".

Former England worldwide Gary Lineker, who now work as a television presenter, tweeted: "Congratulations to @ManCity on winning the Premier League title".
