Kellyanne Conway Cooked On The Web After 2 Fail-Heavy Interviews

Kellyanne Conway Cooked On The Web After 2 Fail-Heavy Interviews

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday morning that former FBI Director James Comey changed the outcome of the 2016 election with his announcement about Hillary Clinton's emails.

"I saw Jim Comey last night and I said 'this guy swung an election?' I don't think so", Conway told Chris Cuomo on CNN, shaking her head in disbelief at the notion.

She also tweeted her defense.

Trump, meanwhile, tweeted a slew of insults at Comey, whom he fired in May.

Conway's comment, a reference to Comey's October 2016 announcement that the FBI had restarted its investigation into Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, contradicts the White House's long-standing position.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, asked Comey if he had ever "been an anonymous source in news reports about matters relating to the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?" or if he had ever "authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports about the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?"

Comey is carrying out a publicity campaign for his book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership", set for release Tuesday. Comey had only ever testified that no one in the Department of Justice had made such a request, Stephanopoulos said, but he has always maintained his claims about Trump.

First, I have no doubt that Trump is very sincerely confounded at Comey's ability to grab the spotlight.

As director of the FBI, James Comey was in office from January 20, 2017, to May 9, 2017. "He was a very deft way of making things about him".

Hours before the interview was aired, the president unleashed a Twitter outburst that labelled Mr Comey, who he sacked in May previous year, as "slippery", suggested he should be put in jail and branded him 'the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!'. "The president hardly knew the man".

During Sunday's interview, Comey said of Trump, "I think he's morally unfit to be president".

Mr Trump's adviser Kellyanne Conway accused Mr Comey of peddling a "revisionist version of history" and sinking into the "gutter" with petty comments about the size of Mr Trump's hands and the length of his tie.

Comey just loves "being in the proximity of power", Conway shot back.

"At the end of your interview, George, he gave a free political commercial, telling people to go out there and vote against the president and his interests", Conway said. "It's possible", said Comey.
