Meek Mill Freedom? The 76ers Really Are On A Roll

Meek's lawyer announced the rapper was granted a new hearing by Judge Genece Brinkely to discuss the possibility of another trial.

The city's DA believes Mill - who has controversially been behind bars since November due to a probation violation - deserves to have his case heard in court again, and that his original gun and drug charges from a 2008 arrest should be dismissed.

Rapper Meek Mill's drug and gun convictions should be thrown out and he should be granted a new trial, prosecutors said in court Monday in an announcement that led his supporters outside to break into an impromptu dance party. This admission, given by Assistant District Attorney Liam Riley, could potentially lead to a retrial-which itself could be declined by the prosecutors, seemingly losing momentum and support for their side. Mill already served time for the conviction, and is now serving another two to four years in jail on a probation violation. The team previously revealed its intentions to file for Mill's release with the state supreme court.

Beatty, Auerbach, and Rick Dumont all said that they thought the district's needs could be met with $105 million in spending. It is an incredibly unique opportunity to be able to work with the board to develop a new school system from the ground up.

In a written statement sent to HipHopDX, Tacopina provided some further insight into today's proceedings. "Our office also holds the position that we do not oppose Mr. Mill being released on bail while his appeals are being considered".

If the present case against Mill is vacated, as the DA's office is recommending, there is no guarantee that prosecutors would pursue a new trial against Mill.

"They obviously have recognized and determined the criminal behavior of the arresting officer, which dates back prior to Meek's arrest", he said.
