Unnao rape: CBI to seek Narco test of BJP MLA

The Unnao rape case accused and BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, who was arrested by the CBI on Friday after the Allahabad High Court came down heavily on the Uttar Pradesh government for its inability to reign in the MLA accused of raping a minor in his contituency. However, the three youths were booked a year ago after the incident under Sections 363, 366, 376 and 506, at Makhi police station on June 20, 2017. The accused has been sent to the CBI custody till April 25.

Earlier a report had claimed that the victim was around 19 years when she was raped last year. Hence, the CBI team will now move court to seek permission for conducting narco and polygraph test. "Some of the answers given by him were found to be contradictory", the sources said. Victim's mother has also alleged in the FIR filed in this case that Shashi singh was present at the spot when the incident happened.

Almost a year ago, on June 4, 2017, the victim - a minor at the time - visited the MLA's residence with a relative seeking a job, where she was allegedly raped by Sengar and others.

Sources also suggest, that the CBI may soon interrogate Kuldeep Sengar and his key aide Shashi Singh alongside.

"Some goons of Kuldeep Sengar are threatening villagers to keep quiet".

Last week, Sengar was taken into a seven-day police custody after a marathon 17-hour interrogation. The first FIR pertains to the alleged rape of the girl in which Sengar and Shashi Singh have been named as accused.

After a massive public outrage over the inaction of UP Police, the case was handed over to the CBI on April 12.

The father expressed satisfaction with the probe conducted so far by the state police, while vehemently opposing the plea of senior advocate Bhim Singh and Delhi-based lawyer Anuja Kapur that the investigation be transferred to the CBI.

He along with an I-T Officer Pratap Das, a chartered accountant Ramesh Goenka, and a middleman Pranjol Sarma were arrested by the CBI in Assam for their alleged involvement in a case of tax evasion and criminal conspiracy.
