Flipkart and Asus announce partnership, Zenfone Max Pro landing next week

The first product from this partnership will be Zenfone Max Pro which will be launched on April 23.

Once launched, the Zenfone Max Pro will be pitched against the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which also houses the same CPU. During the event, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy was hesitant to answer a question that was related to the fate of the company's Billion smartphone brand.

"With Flipkart's partnership, we aim to gain more insights about Indian consumers' needs, which can help us develop even more suitable products for the Indian market". Up front it houses a 16-megapixel front camera.

E-commerce player giant Flipkart and Taiwanese electronics company ASUS on Tuesday announced a long-term partnership under which Flipkart will become ASUS› premier partner and seller for smartphones that have been customised to address Indian customers› needs. Together, these shareholders hold over 55 percent of stake in Flipkart. The first product under the partnership is going to be Zenfone Max Pro. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 mobile platform coupled with 3GBof RAM. But there will be a new product soon.

Amazon held early exploratory talks to buy control of Indian rival Flipkart but a deal with Walmart is more likely, daily newspaper Mint said on Wednesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

"Flipkart has driven the adoption of smartphones in India, and grown the market, through innovations and a deep sense of knowing what consumers want".

A statement released by the companies highlights that the Flipkart will not only help in sales and marketing of Asus products, but the leading Indian e-commerce marketplace will be the primary sales channel for Asus ZenFones, and both the companies will collaborate for co-creating new Indian consumer-centric products. He says Flipkart is providing phones across all price points.
