Iran's Rouhani: We will not wait for approval to produce weapons

"We will not wait for approval from the world".

In recent days, there have been reports that European countries are considering measures against Iran's ballistic missile programme, in an effort to persuade US President Donald Trump to maintain the Iran nuclear deal.

According to Iran's state-run Press TV, "Iran's latest domestically manufactured missile system called Kamin-2 was unveiled".

Rouhani said Iran may need weapons to defend itself because "we are not living in a normal region". It said it is only for defence purposes, and not meant to carry any nuclear weapons.

The United States and its allies have been demanding that Iran curb its ballistic missile program, which can reach Europe and may soon be able to reach the USA, but Tehran has claimed it sees the program as crucial to its defensive posture.
