Mecca Masjid case: Judge Ravinder Reddy's resignation rejected by HC

Reddy, the Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge, had put in his papers on April 16 soon after he delivered the verdict in the Mecca Masjid bomb blast case in which he acquitted all the accused, including Swami Assemanand. He had also said that if the family of any of the victims wasn't happy with the case outcome, he was willing to provide them with all kind of legal help. "People call NIA a caged parrot, but I will say that it is blind and deaf also".

An inquiry by the Registrar (Vigilance) of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad, against Judge Ravinder Reddy, is underway based on a complaint filed by a litigant who wanted "a thorough inquiry to be conducted to know the corrupt practices" of the judge. Owaisi on Wednesday night had come down heavily on lapses in NIA's investigation and choice of its public prosecutor as deliberate measures to weaken the case which eventually didn't stand in the court of Law. However, defending himself, N Harinath said that he was qualified to advocate the case. "This whole prosecution done by the NIA was basically to ensure that all the accused are acquitted by courts", alleged Owaisi. During the Mecca Masjid trial, however, only officers of inspector rank were present. The deadly Mecca Masjid blast took place on May 18, 2007, which killed nine worshippers at the historic Mecca Masjid.
