Sitaram Yechury Re-Elected For Second Term As CPI(M) General Secretary

In a facebook post, Chennithala opined that the stand taken by the Sitaram Yechury faction at the CPI (M) party congress, as regards the party's potential ties with the congress party, triumphing was in turn a defeat for the Kerala unit of the CPI (M).

It approved the political line of the minority draft presented by Yechury that there should be joint action of organisations in such manner that can "draw in the masses following the Congress and other bourgeois parties".

In 2015, it was more a personal battle for Yechury to become the general secretary of the party.

Reacting to Karat's statement about the political line, another politburo member, Mohammad Salim, said that the resolution which was "almost unanimously" passed did "incorporate changes".

Martin's Episcopal Church, said she was humble, courageous and "tired of waiting on the next chapter". Bush's body will be taken to the George Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M in College Station.

Summing up the discussion over political resolution, CPI (M) politburo member and party's former general secretary Prakash Karat, while arguing in favour of Sitaram Yechury placing a document on minority view, said "It is unprecedented that two views have been put before the Congress".

Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, Sarkar, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala CPM leader S Ramachandran Pillai and West Bengal leader Biman Basu are among the members of the central committee. While the Left would still not have a political alliance with the Congress, it appears to be ready for an "understanding" in view of the 2019 polls.

The divorce between the Congress and the Left saw the decline of the CPI (M). She also indicated that regional secular parties would be preferred to Congress, a national secular party, when it comes to fighting the BJP. "But accepting understanding means there are a lot of scope and a lot of hope", said a leader from Bengal attending the party Congress. The election is scheduled to be held in the forenoon after the election of the new members of the Central Committee and Politburo. "However, due to their blind hatred towards the congress, the CPI (M) Kerala unit failed to see the writing on the wall", he wrote. After this Yechury will be all set to get his second term unopposed.

The party's constitution allows an individual to serve for a maximum of three terms. It was also supported by the party's central committee in January. At the party's 22nd Congress on Wednesday, Yechury said that mobilizing secular and democratic forces was imperative to strengthen people's struggle for the realization of an alternative policy direction for the country.
