Harrison County will offer two days of take backs with the first being Saturday, April 21st. "Educating the public and removing these medications from households across the Unites States prevents misuse where it often starts".

Five Northwell Health facilities on Long Island will take part in April 28's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a chance for people to safely remove unused and expired prescriptions from their homes. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the USA are increasing, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.

Authorities point out that studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.

The agencies will be accepting unwanted prescription drugs from the public as part of a nationwide initiative to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially risky expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
