No friendly Roma reunion for Salah, warns Klopp

No friendly Roma reunion for Salah, warns Klopp

Former Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar says he would have picked Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Mohamed Salah for the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Reds head into their first Champions League semi-final for a decade on the back of the 41-goal Egypt global being crowned PFA Player of the Year.

Signed from Roma in pre-season, Salah has equalled the Premier League record for goals in a single 38-game season with his haul of 31 and still has three games to surpass it.

"I didn't have my chance at Chelsea".

Salah was key in helping Egypt's national team reach the African Nations Cup final and qualify for this year's World Cup in Russian Federation, which will begin in mid-June in Russian Federation. He's just showing what he can produce if you give him an opportunity to play.

And that just seems to be a characteristic of the type of person and player that Mo Salah is.

Scoring 41 goals - there are probably more to come - in one season in English football is an outstanding achievement, but it required something out of the ordinary to deny De Bruyne.

"When he left, he went to Fiorentina to work on his confidence, and I was never surprised".

The 25-year old has had an astronomical season with Liverpool, breaking new grounds since joining in June 2017.

"He came in during the summer, settled in really well during pre-season and straight away we knew we had a top player", added the Liverpool captain.

Fran Kirby, who played in Chelsea's 3-1 defeat in the first leg of the Women's Champions League semi-final on Sunday, won the women's player of the year award.

The Reds forward has notched a number of club and Premier League awards by scoring 41 goals in 46 games in all competitions so far this season. "I always think about the team, I don't think about myself, so the most important thing for me is to win something with the team", he added.

'He is a fantastic player.

Roma have had to wait even longer for a European Cup semi-final with their last appearance coming 34 years ago when they beat Dundee United but went on to lose to Liverpool in the final.

Former Egyptian star Mido - coincidentally a fellw Romanista, too, though his time there was hardly worth writing home about - also believes that the super star striker should move to a bigger club.

But it is my opinion, the opinions of the players could be different.
