VW Golf GTI TCR: it's the fastest road-going Golf GTI ever

Volkswagen will be revealing a hardcore version of the iconic Golf GTI hatchback on May 9 in Austria.

Following a set of teaser images, VW says the vehicle is close to production.

Volkswagen has not revealed the sprint of the TCR from 0-100km/h, but says it will hit the top speed at 250km/h, but if you think that is not enough, you can increase it to 264km/h by opting to have the electronic limiter removed.

Privileged to be part of historic Ireland Test, says Pakistan captain Safraz
Ireland , who were granted Test status previous year , will play their first Test against Pakistan in Dublin from Friday 11 May. The conditions are hard , as you see the rain and the wicket will be tough because it's early [summer] here.

While that's down on the 330 hp and 302 lb-ft that the GTI TCR race auto makes, it's still a healthy bump over the standard GTI's 220 hp and 258 lb-ft. This is the first pictures of the new VW Golf GTI TCR. Thanks to its drive performance, the production vehicle achieves similar ranges as the Golf GTI TCR racing auto. A 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and a front axle differential lock (both standard) are responsible for power transmission and excellent traction.

The TCR gets 286bhp, more power than the GTI Performance which has 242bhp and less than the Golf R which has 306bhp. Bespoke TCR graphics and branding will likely complete the package. The changes are also set to make the upcoming model the most powerful series-production Golf GTI yet.

The range-topping Golf is a street-legal version of its track-only Touring Car Racing (TCR) model powered by a 2.0-litre turbo making just 20 horsepower shy of the output the famed Clubsport S did.
