Lenovo is teasing the Z5, a true all-screen smartphone

Lenovo has begun teasing its upcoming smartphone called the Z5 that's said to arrive with basically no bezels whatsoever. Chang Cheng, who serves as the company's vice president, shared a teaser of the Lenovo Z5 on Chinese microblogging site Weibo over the weekend. The objective of the notch-at least in the case of the iPhone X-is to allow for the mechanics of the front facing camera, the earpiece, and more, to still exist on the front of the phone while not losing the claim that the screen goes from edge to edge. Lenovo seems to have eliminated all of that entirely.

If Lenovo has figured out how to make an all-screen device without needing to cut out space in the display for front-facing sensors, that'll be a pretty big win for the company. Presumably, it will use fingerprint scanning - there appear to be no sensors for facial recognition - but we don't know whether that scanner will be located on the back of the device or beneath its display. Bezel-less phones are essentially those with higher screen-to-body ratio, giving the display more real estate on the front. It's first "all-screen" will debut soon and thanks to discarding the notch and making bezels thinner, Lenovo has managed to achieve an unprecedented screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent.

We'll find out more about the Z5 closer to its launch in June.

What do you think of the Lenovo Z5?

Unfortunately, Cheng wouldn't go into any specifics, so we will have to wait to see how it all shakes out.
