The phone may be a budget offering but this one comes with a dual 12MP and 5MP cameras with AI Smart Beauty.

While the smartphone market growth was limited, the feature phones witnessed an impressive spike.

Smartphone company Xiaomi has taken the Indian industry by a huge storm and defeated all the competition in its way. The Redmi S2 has been launched in two versions in China - a base 3GB + 32GB variant and a pricier 6GB + 64GB version - just like the Redmi Note 5.

However, the smartphone might be launched with a different moniker and that too under the Redmi Y series in India and could be called as the Redmi Y2. The smartphone starts at CNY 999 for 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and costs CNY 1,299 for 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The device comes with 18:9 Full Screen display. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD via a dedicated microSD card slot. The phone has Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a fingerprint reader located on the back. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S garnered positive responses for its image quality, managing to get an impressive score on DxO Mark.

The 4G feature phone market continued to grow at more than 50 per cent quarter-on-quarter, driven primarily by Reliance JioPhone which led the market with 38.4 per cent share. At the front, there is a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash. Besides Xiaomi, players like Honor, iVoomi and 10.or (Tenor) used the online segment for sales and hence helped increase the share of the channel within the smartphone market from to 34.2% to 36%, sequentially.
