Alabama and Texas schedule 2022-23 football series

The Crimson Tide will visit Austin, Texas, for the first game on September 10, 2022, with the Longhorns slated to make the return trip to Tuscaloosa on September 9, 2023.

"We're thrilled to be able to add another incredible non-conference opponent with the University of Texas for a home-and-home series", said Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. Having last met in the 2009 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl, the Longhorns and Crimson Tide have played nine times dating back to 1902 with Texas holding a 7-1-1 series advantage.

As for the Alabama-Texas all-time series, the teams first met in Tuscaloosa in 1902, followed by games in Austin in 1915 and '22.

With the Crimson Tide on the schedule, Texas also announced it has canceled a home game with UCF that had been slated for 2023.

Two Sherpas smash own Everest summit records
The 48-year-old Sherpa guide from Nepal has climbed the 29,035-foot peak almost every year since starting at 24 years old. Before leaving for the mountain last month, he told the Associated Press he wanted to scale Everest at least 25 times.

With Texas on its future schedule, Alabama is now scheduled to play nonconference opponents Louisville (2018), Duke (2019), Miami (2021) and Notre Dame (2028-29).

Texas holds a 7-1-1 edge in the series with six meetings coming in bowl games. Those adjustments are noted below. The Longhorns will push a home-and-home series with Ohio State from those years back to 2025 and 2026. The Longhorns will host the Buckeyes on August 30, 2025 and travel to Columbus on September 5, 2026.

Texas tossed in an announced home game against UTEP in 2020 to this release. UTEP will visit Austin on September 19, 2020.

A game against Central Florida, scheduled for 2023, has also been cancelled, the school said.
