Jon Jones Snaps Back At Chuck Liddell

Jon Jones Snaps Back At Chuck Liddell

"To be honest, in my mind, I'd like to fight two good warm-up fights then I'd like a shot at Jon Jones".

Ortiz was jonesing for another fight with Liddell over the weekend on Instagram. While White is strongly against Liddell making a comeback especially at his age and history with concussions, the hall of famer isn't too fazed by his former bosses comments.

"I think style wise - in my prim - I would have matched up with him flawless". Liddell has lost his previous to fights to "Shogun" Rua and Rashad Evans. Am I going to do all of this and not fight?' Oh no, we had to have somebody backing up, and if it doesn't work out with him, I'm (still) going to give it a shot.

And while most who know both fighters wouldn't see the hypothetical matchup as one that is overly competitive, that hasn't stopped everyone else from wondering at how both men - at their respective peaks - would fare against each other inside the UFC octagon.

"It's going to happen (third bout with Ortiz)", Liddell said on The MMA Hour.

That means we could legitimately be seeing Liddell vs. Ortiz III later this year, and from the sound of it, the fight may just take place in California.

Liddell - who retired in 2010 after suffering three consecutive knockout losses - also revealed that he's still in talks with Bellator MMA with another UFC legend in Chael Sonnen a possible opponent. "Leave me alone", Liddell said.

In the wake of Liddell's comeback declaration, many members of the MMA community have voiced their disappointment with his choice to return, sharing worries about his health.

After his retirement, Liddell was given an executive position with the UFC, but Endeavor, the UFC's new ownership group, eliminated Liddell's job near the end of 2016. I want to fight.

Jones has been sitting out on a USADA suspension following a second failed drug test after knocking out Daniel Cormier at UFC 217 and is facing a four-year suspension.

Hopefully, the people at Golden Boy realize how much of a mistake bringing Liddell back would be and put the kibosh on his comeback.

"In all seriousness @ChuckLiddell, I appreciate your offer for a fight, but due to scheduling conflicts may not be able to fulfil till mid-2019".
