Sooners and Cowboys Continue to Lead Men's Golf Regionals

STOCKTON, Calif. - Freshman Wilson Furr carded a second round score of 8-under 64 Tuesday to help the seventh-ranked Alabama men's golf team vault into a tie for first at 14-under par 562 (282-280) after 36 holes at the NCAA Stockton Regional.

The top-seeded Yellow Jackets are nine shots off the pace set by the No. 3 seed, Texas, but more importantly are six shots ahead of sixth place entering the Wednesday's final round.

The redshirt junior played at 1 over par across his last 13 holes after starting 5 over through the first five.

Junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) played his final seven holes at 1-under-par to finish the day with a 2-over 73.

Sophomore Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) battled back after a hard opening nine holes to play the second nine at even-par and finish tied for 30th after round one with a 4-over 75. Two of the birdies came on par 4s.

The Bearkats now sit in 12th place and are four shots back of Virginia.

In Columbus, Ohio, University of Iowa sophomore Alex Schaake is tied for 24th after the second round of a NCAA regional at the Scarlet Course was shortened Tuesday.

Lawrence is competing in the NCAA Raleigh Regional as an individual.
