New Jersey school bus and truck in head-on collision

A truck collided with a school bus on a New Jersey highway Thursday morning, leaving multiple people injured, reports said.

Images taken at the scene and posted to social media show the bus on its side in the median with heavy damage to the front end. Photos from the scene: The bus was said to be occupied with 40 to 46 people at the time, with students from East Brook Middle School in Paramus.

The front of the school bus was reportedly badly damaged in the crash and various parts of the vehicle were seen laying on the highway. The undercarriage, the bus wheels still attached, lays perpendicular to the overturned bus, stretching out over multiple lanes of the highway. New Jersey State Police tweeted that a dump truck was also involved in the crash.

Route 80 is closed in both directions in the area, with westbound traffic diverted at exit 26.
