Red Hydrogen phone coming to Verizon and AT&T

Credit: Red/AT&TBoth AT&T and Verizon announced today (May 17) that they will carry the Red Hydrogen One when that phone is released. RED announced early this month that it had to delay the Hydrogen One to August in order to improve the phone's camera.

If you live in or around Los Angeles, AT&T will be demoing the Hydrogen One at Warner Bros. In its announcement of carrying the phone, AT&T describes it as a holographic display device. But it looks like a summer launch is still expected.

That's something not available on any other handset right now, whether they run iOS or Android. It put up a link to register for the event.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today to sight Ramazan moon
The moon sighting committees will hold special meeting today after Salate Maghrib and ascertain, if any, reports of moon sighting. Meanwhile, the holy fasting month is due to begin in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Malaysia and Middle East countries on Thursday.

If that seems like a lot to ask for a smartphone, even in this age of the $999 iPhone X, Red believes the Hydrogen One's feature set justifies the price tag. The phone can also display standard 2D images. We also know the phone will be compatible with modules similar to how the Moto Z or Essential Phone operate.

AT&T said in its press release that the device would be available later this summer with Verizon only committing to a window of "later this year". It gives users a link to a page where they can sign up to receive email updates about the Hydrogen One. A full spec sheet hasn't been shared, but we expect to see more details soon. One person made a video about the phone, showing off that it is real but that person didn't show off its screen capabilities. For the titanium model it would cost $1,595, and for the aluminum model, it would cost $1,295. "Unlocked" Pre-orders will however ship before that". In a forum post from January regarding the phone.
