Shenmue III delayed for a second time

Shenmue III delayed for a second time

"Deep Silver today announced that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019". A rather broad time-frame to be sure, and in keeping in line with the series' history - expected. Fans are annoyed by this decision to delay the game for the second time.

Yu Suzuki then chimed in on the game's Kickstarter page, saying "To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay". Game creator Yu Suzuki expressed his apologies to the fans and promised that the delay will only make the game better with higher quality. Games always get delayed in order for them to get better by making them longer or getting rid of all the bugs and technical issues. "We can not thank you enough for your enduring support".

Deep Silver didn't just delay one game today. It was the animations that had many questioning the quality of the game. THQ Nordic, owner of Deep Silver, announced in its earnings report that Metro: Exodus would instead release in the first quarter of 2019 instead of the original late 2018 window. While Sega is publishing the remasters and Deep Silver is publishing the sequel, it's possible that, in favor of chronology, an agreement was made to have the remasters available before the release of the third game. Now that certain stretch goals have been reached such as an advanced free battle system, skill tree system and more, the scope of Shenmue 3 is much larger than anticipated.
