Trump's Surgeon General Jumps Into Action In Medical Emergency On Delta Flight

Luckily, one of the passengers was U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams who was also on board the plane to Jackson, Mississippi, and he assisted the crew in taking care of the patient.

It's unclear what medical issue the passenger was suffering from.

Adams continued, "Patient doing well and like a good #USPHS officer, I was glad to be able to assist". Adams said he alerted the attendants that he was indeed a doctor and assisted in the medical emergency. Adams called the patient's spouse and explained the situation.

Adams and the two nurses accompanied the patient to the gate, where the medics were waiting.

As per the information from the surgeon general's office, Dr. Jerome Adams was aboard the 1827 Delta flight from Atlanta to Jackson on Wednesday evening when a passenger lost consciousness on the tarmac, before the departure of the flight from the airport.

US surgeon general Dr. Jerome Adams helped during a medical emergency on his Delta Air Lines flight, Wednesday, to Jackson, Mississippi. There is no word on what exactly caused the patient to lose consciousness or how he or she is now doing, but in Adams' tweet, he stated that the patient is doing well.

An anesthesiologist, Adams was previously Indiana's health commissioner, and in recent years is best known for his response to an HIV outbreak that left 181 people infected in a rural in county.

Delta tweeted him back thanking Adams for "volunteering as well as your service".
