Yates extends Giro lead with 11th stage win, Froome slips further

While the finish to the stage packed a punch, it also largely went by the form book, with Yates attacking with 1.5km to go, accelerating away to win his second stage of the Giro, and increase his lead to 47 seconds.

What was expected to be a quiet transition stage - over the longest distance of the entire Giro at 244km - turned into a frantic day of racing after Chaves was dropped on the category two climb which opened the day's racing.

Dumoulin, however, showed more spark than in previous similar finales, and almost chased Yates down, falling just two seconds shy.

"I wasn t convinced I d win the sprint against Nico Denz".

"I d prefer him still to be there, so we had more cards to play and tactics in the final". 'Really hard but happy I could get more time.

The owner of the pink jerseys Simon Yates continues to dominate the mountain finishes in the Giro-2018.

Courtney Love , Frances' mom, previously told TMZ when asked about Silva's claims to the instrument, "It's not his to take". Lee appealed the verdict past year , causing Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain to testify to block Lee's case.

As the race passed through the area devastated by the 2016 eathquakes the situatiion began to change at the front of the race as Frapporti was caught and passed on the ascent of the final climb by Mohoric and Davide Villella (Astana), with Nico Denz (Ag2R) on their heels.

"I did at the beginning with 12 other riders but, unfortunately, because of what happened to Chaves, the peloton came across", Mahoric said. "That's why I tried to attack him before", an elated Mohoric said after his gruelling ride.

"We decided before the stage that we wouldn't chase for the stage, because normally in a finish like that there are some faster guys who have won before me", Yates said afterwards.

"I'm delighted that I have taken this opportunity. I'm not very good in a sprint from a slow speed so I launched and I increased my speed as much as I could". But with two sprint stages ahead before a mammoth stage 14 on Saturday night, a solid grip on sixth place is an extremely advantageous spot to be in as the race starts to get serious. I was going to go for the bonus sprint because I need to gain time on Tom Dumoulin but, when I saw Thibaut Pinot getting a lead out, I went past him.

Wednesday's Stage 11 is another lumpy one, covering 156km from Assisi to Osimo.
