Iran's People Will 'Punch Pompeo in the Mouth': Iranian Official

Iran's Foreign Ministry has rejected the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's threatening remarks as "absurd and interventionist".

President Hassan Rouhani said that the United States can not make decisions for Iran or other independent countries in the world.

The attempts of European governments, which promised they will continue to deal with Iran on the economic front as part of their commitment to the JCPOA agreement, to protect their companies' contracts failed.

Pompeo vowed that Trump's approach would ensure "Iran has no possible path to a nuclear weapon, ever". "After our sanctions come in force, it will be battling to keep its economy alive".

"Pompeo's remarks once again revealed the poor intelligence, weak oversight, analytical backwardness and confusion in decision-making processes in the United States, and showed radical and hawkish currents in the U.S. neither know history, nor can learn lessons from it", said the statement. A longtime Iran hawk, Pompeo has spoken positively about regime change in the past, but in his confirmation hearing last month he sought to soften that stance. Instead, Trump wants North Korea to give up everything first.

It was a pointed response to Pompeo's speech earlier in the day, in which he threatened the "strongest sanctions in history" against Iran unless it capitulated to a series of 12 demands regarding its regional behavior and missile program.

Experts said the move was meant to remove voices of dissent from the administration, and to essentially allow Trump to be himself.

"We will hold those doing prohibited business in Iran to account", he said.

Rouhani called for the solidarity and unity among the Iranians to counter the USA pressures.

The deal was also signed by Britain, China, France, Germany and Russian Federation.

It's no surprise that Iran didn't take that well.

Whatever Trump may eventually decide to do, he should not claim to do it in the name of "the long-suffering people of Iran".

He also called for a full stop to Iran's enrichment of uranium, which was sharply curbed by the Iran deal, and for worldwide monitors to gain "unqualified access" to all sites, including military facilities that Iran considers off-limits. Kowsari said, according to ILNA. "The Iranian wave of destruction in the region in just the last few years is proof that Iran's nuclear aspirations can not be separated from the overall security picture", he added.

"The JCPOA was a bad deal for the United States, Europe and the entire world". That bet was a loser with massive repercussions for all people living in the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday hailed the United States's policy on Iran and urged the rest of the world to follow suit.

The European Union largely dismissed Pompeo's speech and said it remained committed to the full implementation of the nuclear deal. A free, democratic, non-belligerent, and non-nuclear Iran is key to peace and stability in the region; anything else would maintain chaos and instability in the region.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that to meet United States demands, Iran would have to transform itself into another country altogether and acknowledge a secondary status in the Middle East hierarchy.

If Iran does not change course, the U.S.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warns that if world powers try to link the joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to other issues they will lose the agreement. Secretary Pompeo explains the length of the list is the result of the maligning Iranian regime, as in fact, the demands are quite basic. In his speech at the Heritage Foundation, Pompeo also said Washington would impose unprecedented sanctions against Tehran. "It seems to be an intentional way to get into a confrontation with Iran".
