Ex-Buffalo Bills lineman Richie Incognito undergoing psychiatric evaluation

Police took veteran National Football League guard Richie Incognito to a mental hospital after he allegedly threw weights and tennis balls at gym employees and another patron and told officers the government is spying on him, according to a report released Thursday.

The man Incognito got into a disagreement spoke with TMZ and said Incognito first threw a tennis ball at him before throwing a dumbbell at him.

The Rams released Incognito, who was claimed by the Bills in 2009 for a three-game stint.

"He started yelling at me like he was going to kick my ass and beat the [expletive] out of the equipment over here", O'Brien said in the 911 call regarding the incident obtained by the Herald.

The recently-retired lineman was taken into custody and placed under an involuntary psychiatric evaluation under Florida's Baker Act - which allows a person to be involuntarily committed if they're seen as a danger to themselves or others around them.

Mark, who did not recognize Incognito at the time, said he had "seemed upset" and was only doing each workout for five to six seconds.

When police arrived, a Lifetime Fitness staff member said he had been hit in the arm by an Incognito tennis ball. Incognito would not go into further details about his believed government involvement because the officer did not have the proper "clearance".

Incognito was previously placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2014 after smashing his auto with a baseball bat. Once OTAs started, however, Incognito reportedly expressed a desire to play again and asked to be released so he could sign with another team. "I hope he gets help", O'Brien said.

I "certainly appreciate all he did for this organization and then my, as I was here last year, just one year of his career with the Buffalo Bills and what he meant to us and what he meant to me".

Richie Incognito is a free agent, after indicating earlier in the offseason he wanted to retire for health reasons.

I don't want to speculate too much so hopefully Incognito gets this figured out and either lands on another team, or just decides to enjoy a quiet retirement.
