Nokia outs three more affordable Android phones with 'P' pledge

Aside from Nokia 2.1, HMD Global has also unveiled two new phones under its Android One family in the form of Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 3.1. Yes, the phone does offer the same storage and RAM configurations as the Nokia 3.1.

Nokia 5.1 comes with 5.5-inch Full HD+ display in 18:9 aspect ratio. While the Nokia 5.1 features thinner bezels, it continues to retain the fingerprint sensor at the front of the device. The retail price of the Nokia 3.1 is around $160 (Euro 139) when it's released this June in three color options (White/Iron, Black/Chrome, Blue/Copper) and two RAM and storage options (2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB). At MWC a year ago, HMD Global introduced the trio of Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 as its first set of smartphones.

With the announcement, literally all Nokia smartphone announced under the HMD Global umbrella, will get updated to Android P. It will go on sale in July for €189 and €219 for the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM versions respectively. While the launch of the Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 2.1 was scheduled for July 2018, the Nokia 3.1 is set to make it to the stands as early as next month.

The device sports 16MP rear camera with LED flash and 8MP front shooter for selfies. The low processing power means this phone comes with the lighter Android Oreo Go.

It will be available with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The existing Nokia 2, 3 and 5 have all been updated for 2018, gaining a.1 after their name.

The Nokia 2.1 is the one among the lot which runs Android Oreo (Go Edition).

Elsewhere, the rear camera has been updated, going from a 13-megapixel camera to a better 16-megapixel one.

The Nokia 2.1 is aimed mostly at emerging markets, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 and will be available globally for around $115 (local prices are still to be confirmed).

HMD Global hasn't mentioned which markets the phone will be released in, but gave pricing for the two Android One devices in euros and the Nokia 2.1 in USA dollars.

HMD Global launched its three new mid-range Nokia smartphones in Moscow on Tuesday. These new devices look more modern than Nokia 6.1, which is stuck with the 16:9 display. As per the listing, the Nokia 3.1's price in India is Rs. 9,499.

The Nokia 2.1 will come in three metallic colours: Blue and Copper, Blue and Silver and Grey and Silver.

Design wise the phone gives a premium feel and it is made up of 6000-series anodized aluminium. The smartphone also comes with NFC connectivity. With Android Enterprise Recommended smartphones Nokia will offer a neat and clean experience with reliability and security on top of those.
