Laurie Strode, one of the teens who managed to barely escape Michael's wrath, has spent the last four decades preparing, and hoping, for Michael's return. (She) says 'Do you have somebody patrolling Smith's Grove?

On Friday, the trailer dropped for the new iteration of Halloween.

Despite removing the sequels from canon, the upcoming horror film will have nods to the entire history of the franchise.

But with Blumhouse ("Get Out", "Split") involved and a script that won over Carpenter (who is an executive producer on the movie), the maestro of the franchise is back, which has given this "Halloween" a real sense of excitement.

Halloween will hit theaters on October 19, 2018.

Jamie Lee Curtis is back to face Michael Myers in the trailer for the new "Halloween" reboot/sequel.

The trailer ends with Michael doing what he does best, attacking an unsuspecting baby sitter, as Strode asks in a voiceover, "You don't believe in the boogeyman?"

The trailer introduces Castle as a prisoner laughing hysterically at a Michael Myers mask, then switches to a grim Curtis at target practice and asserting, "I pray every night that he would escape". "Same issues. 40 years later", she captioned a picture of herself with Myers lurking in the background. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, with everybody's best friend Judy Greer playing her daughter, and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter. Of course, besides writing and directing the original 1978 film, Carpenter also provided the music, most notably, those iconically creepy piano notes from the Halloween Theme.

"We were trying to come up with what our take would be and really just found an original path that more or less takes the first one as our reality", director and co-writer David Gordon Green explained to ComingSoon.
