The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Follow-Up Gets Intense First Trailer

The Girl In The Spider's Web is now set for a release on October 19th and along with Foy it also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks and Sverrir Gudnason, among others.

Haunted by her past and driven by fury at abusive men (like the wife-beating CEO who gets caught up in Lisbeth's top-of-the-trailer snare), the title character battles her way through any number of action-packed adventures in this first-look trailer.

The first trailer can be found below, and as you can see, it's already looking pretty stylish. The Girl In The Spider's Web is out in November. Sony has debuted the first official trailer for the latest film in David Fincher's English-language version of The Girl in the Dragon Tattoo series, continuing with the sequel The Girl in the Spider's Web.

Joining Foy in the film are Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael Blomkvist, Lakeith Stanfield as Ed Needham, and Stephen Merchant as Frans Balder. It was directed by Fede Alvarez from a script he wrote with Steven Knight and Jay Basu. It became a global hit for Columbia Pictures, taking in over $230 million worldwide.

The almost 3-minute teaser video presents the iconic character created by writer Stieg Larsson, and followed up by David Lagercrantz in the fourth book in the Millennium series, in a dark world where a man cheats on his wife and likes to beat up sex workers. That film, starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as multitalented hacktivist Lisbeth Salander, received widespread critical acclaim when it was released in 2011, but ultimately was a slight box office disappointment for distributors Columbia and MGM.
