IHOP Name Change A Cheap Publicity Stunt?

The company says it will reveal on Monday what the "b" in IHOb stands for.

After 60 years, the International House of Pancakes restaurant chain is changing its acronym from IHOP to IHOb.

However, while he does agree with IHOP's push to get consumers to think of them beyond just pancakes, its name is simply "too hard wired into consumers' minds to be replaced by IHOB". Now, we're flippin' our name to IHOb.

The restaurant has been replying to people on Twitter saying the name will be good and people will have to wait until June 11 to find out what it will be.

Burritos, Brexitfest, bacon, biscuits, along with several NSFW words have been thrown out as possibilities for the mysterious lowercase 'b'.

But as IHOP/IHOb continued tweeting about its unexplained name change, things "kept getting weirder", as one Arabic speaker said. The restaurant chain has about 1,650 locations.
