Porsche's first all-electric vehicle will wear a "Taycan" badge when it goes on sale one year from now, the German automaker announced early June.

Porsche has also shown a Mission E Cross Turismo concept, a wagon version of the electric auto. Today, the German automaker has announced that the Mission E will be sold as the Porsche Taycan.

Before you worry that Porsche isn't Taycan care of business, the new name is actually pronounced tie-con.

The vehicle is expected to have a range of over 250 miles. It'll go to 60 miles per hour in under 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 124 mph in less than twelve seconds.

But the vehicle's charging system might be the biggest feature that the Mission E, now the Taycan, is bringing to market.

According to Porsche, the Taycan name is a Eurasian word that roughly translates to "lively young horse" and is a reference to the "leaping steed" on the company's badge.

Putnam’s office failed to do background checks for a year
Keller told the Times that Wilde was sacked immediately after the Inspector General's Office concluded she had been negligent . Putnam blamed the employee, who he called " negligent and deceptive" for not acting on the results of the background check.

"Our new electric sports auto is strong and dependable; it's a vehicle that can consistently cover long distances and that epitomises freedom", says Porsche chief Oliver Blume.

Taycan keeps true to Porsche's tradition of using names that people will mispronounce more than a few times before getting it right.

Interest in the Taycan has already been huge, Porsche says, though sales aren't expected to kick off in the U.S. for some time yet. Still, previous suggestions have indicated a starting price in the region of $80-90k.

Porsche said it's planning to spend €6 billion on electromobility by 2022. Around 500 million euro is going to go on Taycan variants and derivatives, it says, while around a billion euro will got on electrification and hybridization of the existing Porsche line-up.

At the Zuffenhausen HQ, Porsche has a new paint show and dedicated paint shop for the new auto.

But Porsche's brand image is built on track performance not just straight line acceleration so, with the Taycan, Porsche promises a "level of continuous power that is unmatched by any other electric vehicle".
