Amazon expands Whole Foods discounts to 10 states, including Hawaii

It's all about Amazon's model of adding more benefits to Prime membership, and now almost half of all Whole Foods stores offer these deals.

Since Amazon announced the acquisition of Whole Foods Market, the grocery store has been getting more deeply entangled in the Amazon ecosystem. Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Oregon, North Carolina, and Washington join the existing 13 states.

Whole Foods is expanding its Prime-exclusive discounts to Alabama and nine other states, the grocery chain announced today.

The companies said Monday that Prime benefits will become available at the point of sale in Whole Foods stores in 10 more states starting June 13.

The discounts include $2-per-pound savings on organic yellow nectarines and peaches; buy one, get one free purchases of Annie's Natural Macaroni & Cheese; and $3-per-pound savings on made-in-house pork sausage, with no antibiotics.

Prime Members should be aware, however, that in order to access these deals, they'll need to link their Prime account to the Whole Foods mobile app.

"We've been delighted with the customer response to free two-hour delivery through Prime Now, and we're excited to bring the service to our customers in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Richmond", said Christina Minardi, Whole Foods Market Executive Vice President of Operations.

The latest expansions mean that Prime members are eligible for discounts at nearly half of the Whole Foods locations in the USA, in 23 states overall.
