"He did it the previous summer where he wanted to go to Manchester United, everything was agreed, chose to stay, so we're going to have to wait for his decision".

Lemar's potential transfer could have major implications for the future of compatriot Antoine Griezmann, who has been heavily linked with a move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona.

But he told a news conference: "I apologise - I am really very sorry".

But Griezmann has remained tight-lipped on his decision, refusing to reveal his future destination just yet.

Griezmann is looking to cap another spectacular club season, in which he scored 29 goals in 49 games as Atletico finished runners-up in La Liga behind Barcelona and lifted the UEFA Europa League.

The duo are being interviewed at the same time, reeling off names of their favourite players as the presenter says: 'They are so cute we can not refuse them anything'.

Well, he couldn't say anything about Barca because of the release clause that reduces the fee they can sign him for doesn't come into effect until July 1.

Barca's pursuit has angered Atletico, who in December reported them to Federation Internationale de Football Association for making an alleged illegal approach and followed up with a statement in May that said "enough is enough".

Monaco forward Thomas Lemar is set to sign for Atletico Madrid in the coming days.
