Justify back at Churchill Downs as fans bask in Triple Crown glory

If any sport is above collusion, it has to be horse racing. Triple Crown victor Justify has returned to Churchill Downs to rest as the track where the quest began prepares to celebrate the milestone. In the wake of his Belmont triumph on Saturday, they said they were open to the idea of keeping him on the racetrack but wanted to be absolutely sure he was healthy after a whirlwind schedule in which he raced and won six times, beginning in mid-February. "He is a Triple Crown victor and he's undefeated", Repole told The New York Post. On June 17, the colt will travel to trainer Bob Baffert's base in Southern California to await his next move.

Owned by WinStar Farm, China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners, and Starlight Racing and ridden by Mike Smith, Justify held off the late charge of Gronkowski to win the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) June 9 in Elmont, N.Y., by 1 3/4 lengths and became the 13th victor of racing's Triple Crown. We're just so proud of him.

"But they all ran well, but that's all you can ask for, that your horses do well, but they still have to show up". 'I would have thought Baffert would have wanted Restoring Hope nowhere close to the pace'.

But New York Gaming Commission steward Steve Lewandoski told the Daily Racing Form that there is no plan to talk to Geroux.

Baffert had no problem talking about the strategy to help Justify.

Justify won the Belmont on Saturday by 1 3/4 lengths over 24-1 shot Gronkowski after winning the Kentucky Derby by 2 1/2 lengths and the Preakness by a half-length.

Velazquez, who was riding Vino Rosso, added, "Why would you send a horse that breaks bad and take everybody out, then come back in?" "This horse overcame a lot".

The win marks the second Triple Crown for Justify's coach, trainer Bob Baffert, in just three years - he also won in 2015 with American Pharoah.

The age limit for horses in the Derby is three years.

Coolmore Stud had already negotiated for a $60 million deal, but Justify's Triple Crown win was worth a $15 million bonus, turning the breeding fee into a record breaker. "He was showing me the brilliance, superior horse".

Baffert has been doing enough of that lately without him. "People love history being made in sports".

"Opinions die", Baffert said.

Republicans, meanwhile, appear poised to nominate Adam Laxalt, the state's attorney general and the son of former New Mexico Sen. But the 10 also heavily favored Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, voting for the Democrat by almost 10 points.
