Storm chances and heat to finish out the weekend

Otherwise, hot and humid with highs in the mid-90s and the Heat Index over 100°.

The best chance of those will be in north and north-central Alabama.

Temperatures will only fall into the lower 70s tonight before rebounding into the upper 80s to low 90s again Sunday afternoon. Winds N 5-10 miles per hour.

We'll continue to monitor the rain chances throughout the week. Between about 3-8pm Wednesday we'll watch a cold front swinging through the area that could trigger strong and severe thunderstorms.

Rain and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday (June 12) in New Orleans, mainly in the afternoon, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service.

Findings from the study were scheduled for presentation Saturday at the American Society for Microbiology meeting, in Atlanta. All of the bugs can cause food poisoning, with E.coli most likely to cause tummy pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and nausea.

Tuesday we'll have a break in the humidity with highs topping out at a comfortable 88 degrees in the afternoon. NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has placed that part of the state under a marginal risk of severe weather today.

After some much needed rainfall today, more showers and storms are possible before the weekend is out.

Wed: High: 83 Low: 67 Mostly cloudy; scattered showers & storms.

Sun: High: 92 Low: 74 Partly cloudy; late night storms possible.

Tomorrow night: By evening the bulk of the shower activity should be moving off to the south, although we could still see a lingering shower into the overnight.
