The sighting of the Shawwal crescent will determine the official start of Eid, and the beginning of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

The public holidays for the Eid are fixed on next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

"For the past two days, the weather has been dusty to confirm about the first day of Eid in Oman".

But the Eid holidays will be extended by a day to next Monday if Ramadan lasts 30 days.

As for the public sector, government ministries and departments will be closed from Thursday, resuming work on either Monday or Tuesday, depending on moon sightings.
