Millie Bobby Brown Deletes Twitter After Becoming The Target Of Homophobic Meme

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays El on Netflix's Stranger Things, has quit Twitter after she became the target of homophobic memes.

The Stranger Things star left the social media platform after users began using images featuring homophobic statements and slurs and falsely attributing them to the 14-year-old. Harassers also used the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown. To make up these wildly false memes and stories about her is especially heinous.

Some of the posts recently resurfaced this month, Pride Month, Nylon noted.

The Stranger Things actor's image has been shared with homophobic captions, something that, as Vulture reports, is being enjoyed by members of the LGBTQ community.

Brown's official Twitter page @milliebbrown comes up with an error message saying "sorry, that page doesn't exist" when users attempt to access it.

Saudia Arabia attack on Yemen: Hodeidah assaulted by warships and warplanes
The civil war in Yemen has taken a dramatic new turn as Saudi-backed forces try to take the key rebel-held port of Hodeidah. The European Union's foreign policy chief warned of the "devastating" impact the assault would have.

"Obviously not everyone sees the humor here, particularly thanks to the star being, um, an actual child who herself is clearly unamused by this NSFW fun at her expense".

A lot of people didn't like the memes.

In reality, Brown is an active supporter of gay rights and an anti-bullying advocate.

The meme reportedly originates from a tweet past year which gave a fictional account of Brown forcibly removing a fan's hijab at an airport.

"I want this account to share love and positivity", the account's Twitter bio reads.
