Pogba 'likely' to start WC opener - Deschamps

Manchester United star Pogba is a big part of the way Didier Deschamps sets his side up and Desailly has gone on record to say the talent the former Juventus man possesses is better than any member of the France World Cup squad of 1998.

The midfielder's inconsistent season at Old Trafford has not broken Deschamps' faith, while Olivier Giroud is set to be available on Saturday too despite suffering a head injury.

Giroud should be fine for France's opening Group C clash with Australia in Kazan on Saturday afternoon despite needing stitches in a head wound suffered in the 1-1 friendly draw with the United States in Lyon at the weekend.

Manchester United midfielder Pogba struck the post, while Nabil Fekir was denied in the final moments of the game by goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

Paul Pogba produced flickers of genius during Saturday's friendly, pulling off a ridiculous piece of skill to nutmeg the U.S. defender.

Taco Bell Offering Free Tacos for the Warriors Win
Taco Bell plans to honor its promise Wednesday, June 13 from 2 - 6 p.m.at participating locations across the country. In past years, Taco Bell has held a similar "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco " promotion during the World Series.

"I defended him after the match in Nice against Italy", Deschamps said.

The boss also offered assurances over Chelsea forward Giroud's fitness after he was forced off following a clash of heads with US defender - and Blues team-mate - Matt Miazga.

France is considered to be one of the favourites to clinch World Cup silverware, with the likes of Pogba, Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, and Antoine Griezmann at their disposal.

Giroud has "a lovely cut of six centimetres but he should be ready", Deschamps said.
