Pompeo: US hopes for 'major' North Korea nuclear disarmament by 2020

Just landed - a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office.

Meanwhile, allies and analysts were left scratching their heads over what President Trump and Kim Jong-un actually agreed to.

Hyundai Asan, the inter-Korean business arm of Hyundai Group, previously operated a joint tour programme at Mount Kumgang, a scenic mountain resort on North Korea's east coast. The video then goes on to show Trump and Kim as two leaders of vision and destiny intercut with sometimes random clips of, for example, a basketball player making a slam dunk or white horses running through a stream.

It was similar to a message Pompeo delivered Thursday in Seoul, when he was asked about North Korean claims that President Donald Trump had committed to a "step-by-step" process and "expressed his intention" to lift sanctions. You see that whenever they're exploding the cannons into the ocean, right?' Trump said after he played the four minute video for the press.

The announcement appeared to take both the South Koreans - and even top officials in the Pentagon - by surprise, especially since Trump embraced Pyongyang's rhetoric in calling the drills "provocative".

It's possible North Korean officials during the talks at the border village of Panmunjom will seek a firm commitment from the South on stopping its military drills with the United States.

"Well, I think that our country does plenty of killing, too, Joe", Trump said.

The report was interpreted as meaning the U.S. would grant rewards - such as sanctions relief - to North Korea as North Korea take steps to denuclearize, a process which the USA had adamantly opposed.

China's rise has been a long time coming.

Only time will tell how Afghanistan succeed in Tests: Rajput
In a tweet, PM Modi wrote, "I congratulate the people of Afghanistan as their cricket team plays their first global test match". The Afghanistan team under Asghar Stanikzai's captaincy will lock horns with the world's number one ranked Test side.

Trump's rush to claim credit for the supposed disappearance of the North Korean nuclear threat may also give nations like China and Russian Federation an incentive to ease stringent implementation of the "maximum pressure" sanctions that helped bring Pyongyang to the table. Unfortunately the mass media has been focusing on North Korean government human rights violations without looking at America's human rights violations in North Korea and the legality of the sanctions and the legality of the sanctions the United Nations cooperated with. "No longer - sleep well tonight!"

The Secretary of State also added that Trump's tweet was made with "eyes wide open".

"No more rocket launches, nuclear testing or research!"

Using the military exercises as a massive negotiating chip in exchange for the North denuclearizing is a pretty orthodox policy proposal, but it stunned nearly everybody that Trump seemed to be giving this away for free after his meeting.

While Trump was hazy about the timetable for denuclearization, Pompeo gave a specific (though probably unrealistic) date.

In a joint declaration following their meeting in Singapore on Tuesday, the North Korean leader pledged to move toward complete denuclearization of the peninsula and Trump vowed to guarantee the security of the United States' old foe.

Despite Pompeo's insistence that sanctions would hold until denuclearization occurred, he offered few details on how the complex process of complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization would be implemented. Because that's exactly what Trump did, reports Business Insider.

In an interview recorded in Singapore but broadcast on the US television channel, Fox News, late on Wednesday in the US, Trump said that a withdrawal of US troops from South Korea had not been discussed at the summit. Trump cast that decision as a cost-saving measure, but also called the exercises "inappropriate" while talks continue. This followed on the heels of an acrimonious meeting with the world's leading free societies, the G-7, where Trump went to bat for Russian Federation and followed up with a very public spat with our closest and (usually) friendliest neighbor, Canada.

USA officials said it was unclear what types of training involving US and South Korean troops might cross into Trump's now forbidden zone of "war games".
