United 2026 bid brings World Cup to U.S., Mexico, Canada

The United bid won by a 134-65 margin, with one vote for "neither" host.

Every four years, soccer fans gather and watch their favorite teams and countries compete for the ultimate title-World Cup Champions. That event set attendance and television viewership records and helped kick-start the rapid growth of men's professional soccer in the country.

Three is the new magic number for hosting a World Cup.

It was a game that many in Russian Federation had feared could turn into an embarrassment, but rather than let their country down, Stanislav Cherchesov's team gave the World Cup a flawless start by cruising to a 5-0 victory against Saudi Arabia in Moscow.

Meanwhile, "De la mano del Diez" is a T.V. show that will be hosted by football legend Diego Armando Maradona and the famous Spanish-language commentator Victor Hugo Morales during the World Cup, broadcasting everyday on prime time. United States of America will host 60 of the 80 matches in 2026 with the remaining shared between their co-hosts. Both the United States and Canada failed to qualify for this year's World Cup.

Canada's venues will located be in Edmonton, Montreal and Toronto, while the Mexican potential host cities are Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.

'I have already won': Rebel Wilson confident ahead of Bauer appeal decision
Bauer Media did not challenge the jury's defamation finding in its appeal and sought only for the damages to be reduced. She wrote that she had "already won the case" and that the case was more about clearing her name than making money.

In an unexpected late intervention after presentations on Wednesday, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura gave the North American bid one final push before the ballot when she summarized the review task force's verdict that saw Morocco fare so poorly. "I believe in what I can do for Fifa and for football".

Calgary's provincial sports rival Edmonton is a candidate city, along with Montreal and Toronto, to host Canada's 10 World Cup matches in 2026.

It is only the first game of the tournament, we will have 63 more games to get our teeth into over the course of the next month so it may not be memorable, but it is starting off the World Cup and that is only a good thing.

Morocco has said it needs to spend nearly $16 billion (£12 billion) on infrastructure while the North American bid's revenue forecast ($14.3bn) far outstrips what Morocco has to offer ($7.2bn). "It should be based on the merits of the bid".

"It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the USA bid", Trump wrote.
