President, PM greet countrymen on Eid-ul-Fitr

The King's message follows the announcement by the Supreme Court that Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will be on Friday, June 15.

According to the statement: "Eid-el-fitr is a very important event in the life of every Muslim chiefly because of the virtues it embodies". Special guest Imam Jamal led the prayer.

Ramadan (Ramzan) is the religious month for the Islamic community.

Reports of the Shawwal crescent moon has been sighted on Thursday in Saudi Arabia, meaning Eid al Fitr should officially begin on Friday.

One of those activities was a month-long Ramadan contest called Islamic Factor, where participating youth had to answer time-sensitive, faith-related questions every day of the holy month.

The holiday declaration was issued upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos "to bring the religious and culture significance of the Eid'lFitr to the fore of national consciousness".
