Reporters rip Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Trump family separation tactic

White House Press secretary Sarah Sanders lashed out at a report that she and principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah are planning to leave the White House. "Don't you have any empathy for what these people are going through?"

"That's been this administration's policy since the day we got here", Sanders said.

Almost 1,800 immigrant families were separated at the US-Mexico border from October 2016 through February of this year, according to a senior government official, who agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity.

The bottom line: Comey and the Federal Bureau of Investigation made poor procedural decisions, but they were not political or illegal in nature.

Reporters have been growing frustrated with Sanders over the lack of briefings and their short length.

"I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law", Sanders said to Acosta, who interrupted her answer.

Only the compromise bill would open a door to citizenship for young immigrants brought to the US illegally as children, and reduce the separation of children from their parents when families are detained crossing the border - a practice that has drawn bipartisan condemnation in recent days. "They have less than you do", he said.

"What they did to Sarah at the White House Correspondents' Dinner ... the only difference I would've done, I would've walked out", he said.

McHenry tells reporters Republicans won't "take on immigration without the support and endorsement of President Trump".

"After listening to Sanders saying the Bible gives the right to take children from their parents I've decided".

"Hey Brian, I know you want to get some more TV time", Sanders interjected, "but that's not what this is about". "Persons who violate the law of our nation are subject to prosecution". Come on, Sarah. You're a parent. "Why'd you bring up her kids?"

"It doesn't have to be the law, you guys don't have to do that", Acosta replied, before Sanders leveled blame at Democrats who "have failed to come to the table" and "failed to help this president close these loopholes and fix this problem". "If that was a conservative reporter, yelling at a female Democrat press secretary, the lead story." he trailed off.

Hundreds of thousands of them have been protected by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. If this were happening at a private company, people would automatically assume that the leadership is bad, that nobody there knows what they're doing, and that the company was going to eventually tank. It's a serious question.
