Melania Trump 'hates' to see children separated from families at United States border

In a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday, 55 percent of Republicans said they support the policy of separating children from their parents if some families seeking asylum crossed the border illegally, later requesting asylum.

"You take a look at the death and destruction that's been caused by people coming into this country without going through a process". One cage held 20 youngsters. Prior procedure had limited prosecution for many family entrants, in part because regulations prohibit detaining children with their parents since the children are not charged with a crime and the parents are.

"Democrats can fix their forced family breakup at the Border by working with Republicans on new legislation, for a change!" the USA president said.

Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump, said Sunday: "She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart".

But no law requires children and their parents be separated, only the White House policy, and as The New York Times notes, previous administrations frequently offered leniency to families caught crossing the border. They're terrible laws. What's happening is so sad, is so sad.

"This must not be who we are as a nation", Representative Jerrold Nadler said, one of seven members of congress from NY and New Jersey who met with five detainees inside the facility, including three who said they had young relatives removed from their care after seeking asylum at the border. "This could really be something very special, something maybe even for the world to watch, just like they're watching our great economy how it's soaring". He said the U.S. has the worst immigration laws in the world. "You see what's going on with child separation", he said, noting the weekend's news cycle.

"This was done by the President, not Democrats", Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement. You know they come in based on merit, not lottery, or snuck across border.

Key Democrats say their preferred solution is to release families from detention altogether, but give them counseling.

But then the youngster spotted her great-grandmother the Queen waving to the crowd and made a decision to follow suit. George was happily watching his dad, Prince William , as he played in one of the teams.

"We want to fix the whole thing". And it starts with the borders and that's the way it is.

The statement parroted the defense of the policy repeatedly used by President Donald Trump in recent days. This would likely include Trump's polarizing proposals to cut down legal immigration and build his costly border wall, and therefore could tank any chance the bill has to pass.

"The people of Germany are turning against their leadership as migration is rocking the already tenuous Berlin coalition", Trump tweeted. "Crime in Germany is way up", Trump tweeted.

"We are a better country than one that tears families apart", she said.

Five suspected immigrants were killed attempting to outrun border patrol officers in Texas on Sunday.

She compared it to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, which she called "one of the most shameful episodes in US history".

Over the last five years, though, migrants have figured out how to exploit that system, realizing they can get more lenient treatment if they arrive as families, and figuring that if they claim asylum, even with dubious cases, they can often get released into the US where they can disappear into the shadows.
