A vehicle struck has four people at a Dutch concert, killing one and injuring three, police say.

Police there said a "technical investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision" is underway, and a police helicopter has been deployed to make overview photos of the collision scene.

The van struck the four people at a Dutch concert in the early hours of Monday morning, hours after R&B artist Bruno Mars had performed, police said. They would not release more details because the investigation was continuing.

They said the families of the victims were informed but gave no information on their ages or nationalities.

The vehicle was driven away after the incident at the PinkPop festival in Landgraaf, which happened just hours after USA star Bruno Mars had performed his headline set.

The incident took place at the "PinkPop" concert, a popular festival being held in Limburg province in the south of the Netherlands.

The 49th edition of the PinkPop Festival began on Friday, and featured a lineup that included the likes of The Offspring, Pearl Jam, A Perfect Circle, and Foo Fighters, just to name a few.

The three-day festival is attended by tens of thousands of fans.

The condition of the three people who were injured is not yet known.

Police said the street where the incident took place had been closed.

In a statement on Twitter the festival organisers said they were "deeply shocked" by the incident.
