Ash Falls in the Bay Area as Wildfires Scorch Northern California

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Sunday night that there was 2 percent containment.

Just as it looked like the Pawnee Fire was almost under control, it picked back up growing to more than 14,100 acres overnight. So far, 22 structures have been destroyed, six damaged and another 50 are now threatened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to the Golf Course Fire burning off County Road 48 near the town of Grand Lake around 2:30 p.m. Friday. "Fog is largely preventing the smoke from reaching the ground level in parts of the Bay Area", the Bay Area Air Quality Management District said. Residents in some areas affected by the County and Pawnee fires have been told to leave their homes.

Evacuation center: Guinda Grange Hall in the Community of Guinda 16487 Forest Ave.

"If you can't smell smoke you're usually going to be OK", Black said. Extreme fire behavior has been observed, according to Cal Fire, with shifting winds creating numerous areas that have the potential to increase its rate of spread. "So we don't want to see it go up in flames".

The party are all safe, the regional governor Narongsak Osottanakorn, said on Monday afternoon. Experts in cave rescues from around the world continued to gather at the site.

The agency forecast significantly above-normal large fires for July across the western U.S.

Two wildfires raging through Lake and Yolo counties grew overnight, with the new County Fire that broke out in the grasslands of the Capay Valley Saturday afternoon spreading into rural Napa County.

The flare-ups forced evacuations for people in the Double Eagle subdivision, many of whom had just been allowed back to their homes on Thursday after previous evacuation orders were cleared, according to Tricia Austin, a spokeswoman for Cal Fire.

More than 1,200 fire personnel have worked to establish control lines, Cal Fire reported. By Sunday afternoon, that had been reduced to 1,064 firefighters as crews had the fire 73 percent contained. Investigators haven't released other details except to say they don't think he intentionally started the fire.

Wildfires have burned through almost one million hectares in the United States this year as of June 29 - well above the average, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
