A video of the incident, filmed from a nearby boat and posted to YouTube, shows the vessel covered in flames with thick black smoke rising. Passengers on the neighboring boat can be seen shouting desperately to move their boat farther away in case there's another explosion.

Stefanie Schaffer, 22, had been holidaying on the islands with her family when the tourist boat they were on burst into flames.

Authorities have not released the names of those on board, but the woman who died was identified Monday by her father as Maleka Grimes Jackson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, local ABC-affiliate NewsChannel 9 reports. EMS Air Ambulance flew others for medical care at Nassau's Princess Margaret Hospital. "Stefanie was seated on the right side in the front so she was probably closest to the explosion".

The boat, traveling off the island of Exuma, roughly 130 miles south of Nassau, was carrying 12 passengers - 10 Americans and two Bahamians - at the time of the explosion.

In his Facebook post, he said she also suffered two broken arms, a fractured spine, broken wrist as well as injuries to her liver and spleen. Paul and Brooke suffered a few bruises and cuts, but Stephanie and Stacey sustained severe injuries.

The cause of the blast is under investigation. She broke multiple bones, her brother George said, and doctors amputated both of her legs.

Four injured people were evacuated to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, Florida, for treatment, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
