But given that there are a lot of more robust activity tracking apps (not to mention devices) out there now, it's not a surprise that both the app and the API will be deprecated by July 31.

Facebook has just consigned three mobile apps to the trash: Moves, Hello and tbh. This comes in the form of Hello, Moves, and tbh, which for those unfamiliar is an anonymous social media app designed for high school students in the US.

Facebook is cleaning up and non-core apps are the first to go.

In a post on Facebook's newsroom, the company said aside from taking the apps down, the data from the apps would be deleted within 90 days.

On Monday, Facebook said it was shutting tbh and two other apps due to "low usage".

Moves was originally launched in 2013, and Facebook acquired the app for an undisclosed sum in 2014.

Next up is tbh, an anonymous social media app for teens in the USA and which the company bought only past year.

While its Instagram app is popular with younger users, Facebook continues to keep a close eye on emerging teen apps to better understand what resonates with the demographic, according to Thomas Husson, vice president at research firm Forrester. But we need to prioritise our work so we don't spread ourselves too thin.

Tbh is an acronym for "to be honest", and the game-like app allowed U.S. teenagers to send compliments to their friends through a series of quizzes and polls. It's only by trial and error, Facebook says, that they'll create great social experiences for people.
