Strzok said it was a "quick choice of words".

Strzok has met with members of the House Judiciary Committee privately, but his hearing scheduled for Thursday is open.

"The point of order is not taken", Goodlatte said.

Trump responded by questioning why Ghazala, who stood at her husband's side during the DNC speech, didn't speak herself. "In a moment we will continue with the hearing but based on your refusal to answer the question, at the conclusion of the day, we will be recessing the hearing and you will subject to recall to allow the Committee to consider a contempt citation".

Robert Mueller is investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and the Trump campaign's possible involvement.

Your testimony is Bob Mueller did not kick you off because of the content of your text, he kicked you off because of some appearance he was anxious about?

The FBI agent's anti-Trump text messages sent to Page, with whom he was having an affair, have come under scrutiny by congressional Republicans and the Justice Department's internal watchdog.

Ultimately Strzok responded to a question from Gowdy about the early portion of the Russian Federation investigation by defending his own work and the work of the FBI.

Strzok replied that he was not under subpoena, but testifying voluntarily - and that he could not answer questions "related to the ongoing investigations being undertaken by the special counsel's office".

Gowdy: "I don't give a damn what you appreciate Agent Strzok". Strzok had sent Page a link to an article on Trump's criticism of the Khans, adding "F Trump".

Nicola Sturgeon made it clear that she would be prepared to meet Mr Trump but no... Its appearance in central London was approved by the Greater London Authority.

"And my presumption, based on that awful, disgusting behavior, was that [Americans] would not elect somebody demonstrating that behavior to be president of the United States", he continued.

"At no time, in any of those texts, did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took", Strzok said. It simply couldn't happen.

"How can the Rigged Witch Hunt proceed when it was started, influenced and worked on, for an extended period of time, by former FBI Agent/Lover Peter Strzok?".

Strzok said the proposition that there is a conspiracy going within the nation's foremost domestic law enforcement agency "deeply corrodes" faith in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "I want to know what "it" meant, Agent Strzok", Gowdy said.

Peter Strzok said he had information with "the potential to derail and quite possibly defeat" Trump but said the "thought of expressing that or exposing that information never crossed his mind".

Strzok also worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's inquiry into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. It also reflects an effort to shift attention away from the content of Strzok's texts and onto what he says is the more pressing issue: the Russians' "grave attack" on American democracy and continuing efforts to divide the country.

The White House said President Trump is monitoring the hearing from Europe.

Page told investigators that she and Strzok were having an affair, according to a Justice Department Inspector General's report about the Clinton email investigation, and that they used their work devices to hide that from their spouses. But the report said it found no evidence of political bias in the FBI's decision not to pursue criminal charges against Clinton.

"Lisa Page has finally agreed to appear before the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees for a transcribed interview tomorrow", Goodlatte said in a statement.
