PGA Tour to bring tournament to Detroit Golf Club in June 2019

PGA Tour to bring tournament to Detroit Golf Club in June 2019

To accommodate the PGA Championship moving to May, the tour's flagship event, the Players Championship, will return to a March date that it held on the calendar through 2006.

This year's Open takes place from 19-22 July at Carnoustie in Scotland, with the PGA Championship in Missouri from 9-12 August. Here's the full PGA schedule.

The PGA Tour announced its 2019 tournament schedule today, which includes the addition of two tournaments, changes in the timing and locations of others, and one less event in the FedExCup Playoffs.

Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. will host The Northern Trust in 2019, before it shifts to TPC Boston in Norton, Mass., in 2020.

It is one of two new events in rotation for the tour next season. "This will enhance the visibility of the FedEx Cup play-offs and overall fan engagement with the PGA Tour and the game as a whole".

Trump rails against Germany, demands allies double North Atlantic Treaty Organisation spending
Mrs Merkel told reporters: "I am very happy that today we are united in freedom as the Federal Republic of Germany". Trump also misrepresented Germany's energy picture, asserting coal and nuclear power are gone from the mix.

"It's been our stated objective for several years to create better sequencing of our tournaments that golf fans around the world can engage in from start to finish", PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement.

The start of the schedule in the fall - which, after the Safeway, takes the tour overseas for three events in Asia - is basically the same through the Genesis Open at Riviera in late February. The Dell Technologies Championship, formerly the Deutsche Bank Championship, ends after its 2018 event.

The discrepancy in the men's and women's pay was obvious in Sunday's results: The PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic had a total purse of $7.3 million, with $1.31 million awarded to the victor, Kevin Na; the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic had a total purse of $2 million, with $300,000 awarded to the champion, Kim Sei-young. Puerto Rico is slotted for February 18-24, the same week as the WGC-Mexico Championship.

The PGA Championship will be May 16-19 at Bethpage Black on Long Island, splitting part of the Texas swing - the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas will be the week before the PGA, and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial will be the week after the PGA. The move was originally announced a year ago.

The WGC will play in Akron, Ohio, for the final time next month as the event moves to Memphis for the WGC St. Jude Invitational, replacing a regular tour event, next July.
