Djokovic into Wimbledon semi-final, blasts 'unnecessary' warnings

A fuming Novak Djokovic accused the chair umpire of "double standards" before advancing to his first Wimbledon semi-final in three years with a four-set dispatch of Kei Nishikori.

"It's been a great tournament for me, a great grass-court season - obviously I played well in Queen's", Djokovic told ESPN.

After Nadal squandered four set points in the third set tiebreak, with a double fault on one of them, Del Potro made him pay as he pounced on his first chance to raise the prospect of another astonishing upset on day nine of the championships. "Coming into Wimbledon I already felt more comfortable and didn't need time to settle in".

During Wimbledon, speaking of the big event that is taking place in Russian Federation, in which his country, Serbia, failed to go beyond the group stages, Djokovic said: 'I support Croatia.

"I think the first warning was unnecessary", said Djokovic, who was sanctioned in the second set for spearing his racquet into the court. "Anything could have happened, so this is a big achievement for me to get to the semi-finals at Wimbledon". Early on he was bothered by the glare off the sun, adjusting his serve and then sporting a cap.

"I tried my best to keep fighting and was able to scrape through the third and fourth set".

But, Anderson, the 2017 US Open runner-up, rallied and fought back to level things before prevailing in a marathon final set to triumph 2-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 13-11.

Friday's indictments come ahead of Tuesday's scheduled meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The statement notes that they began "spearphishing" volunteers and employees of Clinton's campaign, including its chairman.

"I like the level of tennis that I'm playing on right now", Djokovic said. I don't know how you would break him and that's why it's exciting he is back in the mix. I haven't spent too much time on the court.

"It's feels great to be in the last four of a slam", Djokovic said.

After racing through the first set, Djokovic was handed his first code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct after bouncing his racquet into the grass in frustration at squandering three break points in the third game of the second set.

Djokovic secured that game with a forehand victor, then saved two game points on Nishikori's serve before converting his first match point with a forehand down the line.

However, Djokovic immediately and emphatically responded with a break to love, and then forged a 4-2 lead when Khachanov fired into the net, only for the Russian to maintain the frenetic nature of the opener with a second break of his own.

The three-time Wimbledon champion was broken in the opening game of the fourth set, but won the next four games and broke again to clinch victory.

"I want to use today's result as a spring from which to aim for a final place".
